The 1st child will be $50, 2nd child $40, 3rd child $30, etc..

Illness Policies, Medications, and Procedures

In the event that your child is ill, we will contact the parent or guardian immediately to come pick up the child.  Your response in a timely manner is necessary for me to prevent the other children from exposure.  Covenant Childcare will send the child home for the following:

  • Fever of 100.0 or higher
  • Vomiting
  • More than 2 incidents of diarrhea
  • If your medical and immunization records are not current
  • Persistent cough
  • If your child is not feeling well enough to participate in daily activities for any reason

The use of Tylenol or Motrin to control fever or symptoms that could be or are contagious is unacceptable.  You must not return until your child is fever free (without the use of medication) for a full 24 hours, if your child has not vomited for 24 hours with a regular diet, or until bowel movements are normal.

Covenant will only administer medicine that is accompanied by a completed Medical Form which will be given to you when the need arises.  The medicine must be in the original container with the child’s name clearly marked on the label.

Children absent with a contagious illness will not be allowed back without a written note from the Doctor.

Safety

At Covenant Child Care, we will never leave your child alone or unsupervised.  Prevention is our primary method of promoting safety.

Fire drills are held monthly, at varying times, which is kept on record.  Fire emergency and weather alert plans are posted in each room.

Any accident that occurs during the day is documented on an incident report which is a detailed account of how the incident happened and the procedures that were applied.   You will receive a copy of the report, and sign one that will be kept on file.

In the event of an emergency, we will contact the parent and follow the instructions given first.  In the event that the parent or emergency contact cannot be reached, Covenant, we have the right to administer first aid or obtain emergency medical treatment in the child’s best interest.

Daily Activities

It is important to me and to the development of your child to have a structured environment.  With this being said, here is an example of our daily schedule for the children during the school year:

6:00 – 9:00a                Free Play – Outside Time/ Parent Drop Off

9:00 – 9:15a                Scheduled potty break, clean up

9:15 – 11:30a             Pre-school – AM Snack

11:30 –12:00p                        Free Play / Outside Time / Clean Up

12:00 –12:45p                        Lunch – scheduled potty break

12:45 – 3:00p             Nap Time / Quiet Time / Rest Time

3:00 – 3:45p               Afternoon Snack - Scheduled Potty Break

3:45 – 6:30p               Free Play / Outside Time / Parent Pick Up

During Free Play, weather permitting, we will go outside everyday during the afternoon when all the children wake up, as well as some outside time in the morning.  Please dress your child weather appropriate for this.  We will go outside as long as the temperature is above 30*.  As always, the needs of the children come first, therefore, this schedule is a guideline, depending on the needs of the children.

Meals and Snacks

During the day, Covenant will provide the following for your child:

            AM Snack

            Nutritious Lunch

            PM Snack

Drinks throughout the day to include Milk, Juice (at a minimum) and            Water

The meals are in compliance with the USDA guidelines.  The snacks will be balanced, and no child will ever be forced to eat.

Nap and Rest Time

All children that are not in school are encouraged to lie down and either nap or rest quietly on a cot during the afternoon (1pm – 3pm), or do a quiet activity such as reading books, coloring, or just relax.  Parents will provide a pillow and a blanket which will be sent home the last day of the week to wash and bring back the next week.  School aged children will not be required to nap or rest if they do not prefer.  Other activities will be scheduled during this time.

Discipline Policy

It is the goal of Covenant to provide a safe and fun environment for the children.  We will teach them how to respect and obey on a daily basis.  Sometimes, this requires discipline.  We use a time-out or thinking spot where an age appropriate time out will be given (one minute for every year the child is old), or until the child chooses the proper attitude to successfully be with his or her friends and teacher.  We will let the child know what he or she did that was wrong, and provide lots of love and encouragement after the time out is over to ensure that they are still important, loved, and capable of making great choices.

Educational Activities

Children learn through play!  This is scientifically documented and proven. We use a Christian Structured Pre-school Curriculum from 9:00am – 11:30am.  The expectations that we have from using this Christian based curriculum, is that your child will be reading at least 3-four letter words and writing when they enter kindergarten.  Additionally, the class room is set up each week (and daily) to reinforce what we are learning.  We have several different centers that provide opportunities for development daily.  The centers that could be available on a daily basis are as follows:

  • Construction
  • Language
  • Library / Computer
  • Housekeeping
  • Manipulative
  • Blocks
  • Balls
  • Transportation
  • Imaginary / Dramatic Play
  • Music and Rhythm
  • Science
  • Sensory
  • Large Muscle
  • Creative Arts

We will read lots of books, dance, and sing lots of songs that build letter and number skills, as well as language and motor skills.  We teach basic Spanish, have dramatic play and musical instruments.  We have computer and library.  The class room’s have many toys, songs, and games that are used to develop all areas for children of all ages.  The children are worked with one on one daily to encourage development in all areas.  We read bible stories and pray before meals.  Manners, obedience, and respect are expected of all children.  We learn to share and take turns during all times of the day.  Parents are encouraged to participate at home with the children to help build a sense of unity and community for the child.  Educational activities can be done during inside and outside times and at home.  By using these methods, we encourage the children to become confident!  If there is an area of concern at home or at school for your child, open communication will provide the means to help the child more effectively.  We use positive reinforcement and encouragement to strengthen the child’s skills, whether it’s obeying mommy and daddy, sleeping all night in their own bed, or just being a loving child.  Rewards sometimes include stickers, helper for the day, or picking a prize out of our prize basket.
